The Olympic dream bike is ready!
The Olympic dream bike has become reality! The Dutch already have the best cycling team, but now also the best track bike ever. We are going for gold in Tokyo, that is for sure! Happy and proud of our contribution to this unique bicycle and grateful for the great cooperation with our partners and the Olympic team!

Go Fly Silverwing!
Pontis will use its composite design- and manufacturing expertiseto help the Delft student team Silverwing to win the GoFly competition. In this competition sponsored by Boeing, the challenge is to design the best vertical take-off and landing aircraft for one person.
In the first round, Silverwing ended in the top ten with their flying motorcycle which distinguished itself by the electric engine and by the use of wings. The wings allow the device to reach a speed of 120 kilometers per hour and thus belongs to one of the fastest of the competition.
The final of the GoFly competition is in October this year. The winner gets $ 1 million and in case of victory, Silverwing will of course use this prize to further develop their device.
Today our support was formalized. We are very excited to contribute to the realization of this fantastic dream machine!

The golden dream bike is almost reality
Recently our structural design engineer Rob Lokate traveled to China for the final phase of Project Tokyo: the development of the best Olympic track bike ever! Client Accell and Pontis provided onsite support at our Asian supplier. We have supervised the production of the first prototypes, explained the Pontis laminate plan and brainstormed together on how to efficiently reach the optimal production solution. The groundbreaking design approach developed by Pontis now becomes reality in the new Olympic track bike. Meanwhile, the moulds for the front fork, seat post and frame (size L) are already present at the manufacturer and the first test products are already coming from the moulds. The golden dream bike is almost reality. Proud to be part of this challenging and innovative project!

How to turn composites into gold?
On Monday 11 March 2019 - the day before the JEC World Paris opens its doors – Rob Lokate will be speaking at the Executive Summit of Sampe Europe in Paris. Subject: the development of the revolutionary “golden” track bike for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.

The great shape of XANT L
We are currently designing a novel rotor blade for the new large wind turbine (330kW)of Belgian wind turbine manufacturer XANT. This turbine is specially developed for producing energy at remote locations. The Pontis Design team is responsible for the structural design of the blade: from concept to certification. We closely cooperate with Actiflow, who is in charge of the aerodynamics and the shape of the blade. All XANT turbines have clearly recognizable and characteristic rotor blades: a unique swept-back planform using aero-elasticity enabling the blade to bend with the wind without losing performance.
